Gym... *wheez pant* [May. 18th, 2007|01:02 pm]
[mood | exhausted]

In an effort to recover my Adonis like body (no sniggering in the back seats) I have just rejoined my local gym.

Yay!

I am currently 14 stone which is a tad on the heavy side for me, and I could really do with shedding a few pounds before the wedding (so I actually fit into my jacket).

However does there have to be so much sweating a pain involved?

Surely there must be an easier way?

Bah!

By the way for thos interested this is where I am getting my jacket from:

ummm.... update? [May. 16th, 2007|04:10 pm]
[Current Location |Home]
[mood | chipper]

Yes I do suck at regular updates.

So this is a huge update bomb.

Wedding

As most of you are aware Jane and I got engaged last year – well were getting married this year (I think the fact that we had a 10 year testing period will forgive us a short engagement *grin*).

We have set the date to be 4 o’clock Friday afternoon on the 28th of September 2007.

It will be held at:

http://www.craflwyn.org/

There will be a smallish ceremony on the Friday followed by a huge party on the Saturday – thanks to the fact that we have hired the place for the entire weekend.

The DJ for Saturday will be no other than our very old friend DJ Aardvark (Dave Baynham) so you best get your leather and lace out for some good old fashioned Rock and Goth.

Invites will be forthcoming for both Wedding and party sometime real soon now – yessireeee.

New Job

I have a new job!

I no longer work for peanuts for QQ – having seen the light I am now a senior security consultant working for:

http://www.zepko.com

It’s a bit of a Road warrior job – but at least I get to work form home on the days I’m not required to be on customer premises.

We are seriously looking for more staff in the SIEM area – so if you know what this is and I know you then contact me.

New Car

I have a lovely new car (its technically Janes as well, but until she passes her test its mine bwahahaha).

Well it was new in October of last year anyhow, since then I have put 6000 miles on it.

It’s a rather nice 06 model Astra 1.9 litre SRI Diesel (150 BHP)

Car )

Well that’s about it from my exiting life (well its not really Its all I can be bothered telling you about right now).

Hopefully after this I may feel like updating a bit more regularly.

You never know!

The big announcement (apparently)..... [Apr. 3rd, 2006|01:06 pm]
It will come as no shock to some of you and as a heart attack to others.

After almost a decade of slouching around together Jane and I have decided to get serious (well as serious as we get anyhow).

In this age of all our friends running of and getting married williy nilly we decided to make a stand, but then we got over it and decided to join you.

We got Engaged today (between our birthdays).

Here is a picy of the ring (were off all week if you fancy invading to have a closer look).

Ringness )

Yes folks your right… he really is that bored! [Jul. 26th, 2005|11:37 am]
[mood | cheerful]

Well its almost August, what’s changed?

I and Jane are approximately 150,000 pounds in debt, yes you guessed it we now are the proud owners of a 150 year old 2 bedroom semi detached in Malvern – go us. There is a house warming party on Saturday the 6th of August, if you haven’t received an invite yet, reply to remind me you exist.

I am changing departments in work imminently, the “all work no life” thang was really starting to get me down. Still doing the same old job of techno monkey la fantastique, it’s amazing how many people need one.

Car is just about still running – makes some lovely grinding noises when the engine rocks back to a certain point in its mounting, lets hope its up for the Heromeet and the last Maelstrom – I can think about replacing it after that.

Speaking of which Maelstrom is still fab in all ways, people keep tempting me back to the LT with tales of violence and heroics – but then blow it by discussing how broken every aspect of the game is for 4 hours afterwards – why would I want to go back then? Still poses the biq question of what I do with my August bank holliday?

So in essence looking forward to the prospect of having some free time once more, open house invite at chateu ap Glyn/Rowe.

More musings from the brink. [Feb. 28th, 2005|05:12 pm]
[mood | blah]

Well it’s a Monday afternoon and I have 30 minutes to burn before I can go home, so here is a little update of what I am up to.

Huzzah World of Warcraft is great, I have followed Nigel (and now Jo I might add) into the shadowy depths of this game, all I can say to you all is ….. join us……

Gearing myself up for the Maelstrom season once more, I am really looking forward to this next event. I am only slightly annoyed that I will be arriving late Saturday afternoon after flying back from the USA that morning, but it’s better than not making it at all. I think I will have to wear a sign around my neck that says “No I am not a zombie”, I hope I am up to the drive.

Might be going to a Goth night in Oxford on the 8th, staying over at a friends house then doing some shopping in Oxford on Wednesday – games keeper here I come. This all depends on my boss giving me Wednesday off, and he’s on a bit of a “Discipline unt Order” kick at the moment so it’s 50/50.

Still not bought a house, still not convinced I want to do this “No life all Work” thing, even if it is only for a few years.

Hey ho.

$%!!ing CAR! [Feb. 2nd, 2005|02:02 pm]
[mood | aggravated]

Double arse with extra knobbly bits.

Car has blown its head gasket, this explains my dripping oil, transmission fluid, high ideling and the fact that I had to replace my radiator!

This is not the typing of a happy man.

£300 to fix and thats using the nice man that [info]die_fleiderhat introduced me to.

Arse I say once more.

Its been a long month....... [Feb. 1st, 2005|09:29 pm]
[mood | chipper]

Ahoy from accross the pond to you all!

So far this month I have spent approximately 10 days in the UK, the rest has been either in Istanbul or the United States.

Istanbul was interesting and short whilst the US has been very cheap but also very expensive (depending on whether your looking at the cost of living or the amount I have spent on technology out here!)

I have also discovered SKYPE http://www.skype.com/

SKYPE is fantastic for communications over the internet, it has saved me a fortune calling Jane in the UK whilst I have been away, but the funky thing is you can also use it to make calls to anywhere in the world for about 1.5 Euro cents a minute.

Go get it you lot! My user name is Aberim.

Right, that’s me done .... the only thing I have left to say is that Nigel was last seen falling into WoW and sinking at a terrifying rate, we believe him lost forever!

My journey through the Microsoft wasteland - Day 18 [Dec. 9th, 2004|05:28 pm]
[mood | getting tired now]

Decided to let people know I am still alive - lucky you!

Just coming to the end of my 3rd week of Microsoft course - this was the design week, most interesting of the lot so far, but I have to admit my brain is starting to ache now.

Next week is Active Directory and lots of it, this is the one I'm going to find a bit daunting - AD scares me.

My 3 day course from the 20th to the 23rd has been canceled however (or more correctly put was never booked in the first place) due to a mixup between my company and the training company. I have mixed feelings about this because it was th security course which sounded quite interesting, however it does mean that I am not on a Microsoft training course all the way up until Christmas.

In other news Jane and I have decided to put LT on hiatus for this year, this is due to a combination of lack of interest, tired of OOC politics, lots of real world and work issues and cash. I may still make the Gathering depending on whether I have been re enthused but most likely that I have no idea what else I would do on an August bank holiday weekend.

We are not gone forever, I still have a lot of friends in the system, but I think I will concentrate on Maelstrom, GD and the strange new one that [info]orangutank is tauting.

Contemplated trying to visit [info]pauln but I think its just that bit to far, I recon im at least 40 mins from his place and I dont have my own transport this time.

I am kinda getting sick with being away from home again - I miss Jane and my cornucopia of game playing devices (Im not saying which I miss the most *grin*). Looks like I am away for most of January as well, but at least that is interesting stuff in forign climes, I kinda only get lonely when the evenings are quiet.

Most importantly I miss my own bed!

(I might even sighn one of these off with a non negative emote some time soon)

Lungs... Who needs em! [Nov. 27th, 2004|05:12 pm]
[mood | sick]

The aforementioned cold has now moved to my chest - woohoo!*cough*

Both Jane and I spent a fitful night last night coughing an spluttering and being generally ill.

In other news I have just finished reading a book called "Kushiel's Dart" by Jacqueline Carey, I read it on the recommendation of Andy Cruse and I have to say I loved it. Its a lovely renaissance alternate earth setting with some fantastic characters and political intrigue but be warned, its quite adult content.

I am now off to rescue the kitchen from the clutches of a Jane who has been using it all week! =P

Off to Portsmouth on Monday - might post again before then!

Life?- Dont talk to me about life! [Nov. 26th, 2004|12:31 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |I wish]

Just coming to the end my second week of MCSE training, this week was 2277A (Implementing, Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Server 2003 Network Infrastructure)... my god dosen't it sound interesting.

I have another two and a half weeks to do (which is another reason for starting up this live journal - sanity preservation). Its all happening in this manor house somewhere in the arse end of Bristol (Blagdon I think),  nice enough place but the evenings get a little quiet.

Had a bit of a miserable week really, monday night I developed a screaming sore throat which over the week has blossomed into a full blown head cold, I really hate baing ill away from home. Obviously had to knuckle down and get on with it, so I have been irritating all the other delegates by constantly blowing my nose, I think I may have even passed it on to one of the other lads called Tom - Result!

Oh yeah! Also had the locks drilled on my car on Sunday night (cheers whoever that was) so I have had the car in a local garage down here all week. It was a bit "touch and go" whether they were going to have it done in time but thankfully they have, but fundamentally that was a £130 quid I could have done without spending this close to christmas (or at all really).

hmmm - have to pay attention for a bit now... more later.

So what am I going to use this for? [Nov. 25th, 2004|04:01 pm]
[mood | still grumpy]

Well....

Lets start with what I am not going to use this for!

I will not bitch about people on here! - If I have a problem with someone they know about it (or will do soon!).

What I will use this for is to ramble on about my views and opinions on the world and my life in general, and hopefully keep in touch with a lot of friends I don't see as often as I would like to.

so there! =P

I said, I said, I said....... [Nov. 25th, 2004|04:20 am]
[mood | grumpy]
[music |Bah!]

I said.....

I said I would NEVER own one of these.

I said that all they were used for was slagging people off privately so they could see it.

I said that all they were used for was oneupmanship on people you called friends.

I said it was just a way of saying things to people when you lacked the courage to say it to someones face.

......

You may think I am bitter and cynical.... and you would be right...

but.. with the steady collapse of one group of virtual friends (Anarchy Online) I have come to the realization that this thing is one of the best ways of keeping in touch with people....

...bah!...
